What is zodys stores?

Zodys was a chain of department stores that operated in the United States from 1957 to 1986. The stores were known for their low prices and budget-friendly product offerings. Zodys stores carried a wide range of products, including clothing, shoes, toys, electronics, and home goods.

Zodys was founded by Sol Price, who also founded the popular retail chain Price Club (now merged with Costco). The first Zodys store opened in 1957 in Long Beach, California. Over the years, the chain expanded to over 40 stores across California, Arizona, and Nevada.

Zodys had a unique business model, offering a mix of national brands and private-label merchandise to keep prices low while still maintaining quality. The stores also offered layaway plans and financing options to make shopping more accessible to budget-conscious customers.

Despite its popularity, Zodys struggled to compete with other discount retailers like Kmart and Walmart in the 1980s. The chain filed for bankruptcy in 1986 and eventually closed all of its stores. Today, Zodys is remembered as a beloved brand from a bygone era of retail.
